The challenge is to carry the most polystyrene spheres for as many circuits, loading and unloading on each lap. This is a large body issue and we found that our 2018 philosophy of using the fuselage as a lifting body had been flawed. The drag generated by our inadequate wing and inclined belly was our problem. Fat the wing up with a decent camber so it flies with zero incidence - amazingly the drag reduces. The fuselage flies level and gives no lift at all. Lets face it - that's the wing's job. The reduction drive reduced the current draw from 38 amps to 20 with little reduction in thrust. The huge prop was able to clear the fuselage with ease. It's a no brainer - this challenge needs reduction drives if only because they sound so wonderful!
